A pair of burglars broke into a woman’s home then began gang-raping their victim as she slept, sheriff’s deputies say.
Yovany Eduardo Vera Lorenzo, 45, reportedly woke the woman up after he began assaulting her at her home in Key Colony Beach, Florida, on November 30.
His accomplice Yandri Lopez Macaya, 40, is then said to have joined in the attack and held down the woman to rape her.
The pair’s alleged victim is said to have punched and scratched during the attack in a bid to escape their clutches.
She had spent the evening at the nearby Havana Jack’s Restaurant before going home, and eventually escaped after kicking Lorenzo off the bed.
That broke the bed’s foot board, with the quick-thinking woman using it to batter Lorenzo on the face and escape, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.
The stricken women then ran to a nearby Chevron Gas Station and asked the clerk there to call police, FlKeysNews reported.Four rapists shot dead by police after taking them to scene of sex attack
The same clerk later told police that Lorenzo and Macaya had been hanging around her house as she left for work that morning, and attempted to flirt with her.
Deputies then went to the rape victim’s home, where they saw signs of a struggle.
They noticed its back window and door open.
The latter was in the locked position, suggesting it had been forced open.
Deputies also found a screwdriver and two chairs flipped over, which they think may have been used to break in.
Lorenzo and Macaya were both charged with burglary and rape and are being held in Stock Island Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.
